Playful in Paradise by Beau Simmons at Markowicz Fine Art

Beau Simmons reflects on growing up near Palm Springs and his desire to capture its laid-back glamour, mid-century style, and cultural legacy as “Hollywood’s Playground.” Drawing from personal ties to the desert, he developed the concept for Playful in Paradise in collaboration with stunt rider and producer Tad Griffith, whose expertise made the ambitious scene possible.

The image features a specially trained horse, Batman, safely guided through a custom-built pool setup, with every detail carefully planned to ensure the animal’s wellbeing. With only a handful of attempts, Simmons captured the final frame on film, selecting the image that best realized his original vision.

Blending Western heritage with Palm Springs’ modern luxury, Playful in Paradise expresses Simmons’ admiration for both worlds, creating a striking and playful contrast between desert cowboy culture and iconic mid-century leisure.
