Born and raised in Corsicana, Texas, Susan Hable resides in Athens, Georgia and is the artist and designer behind the boldly colored and hand drawn patterns of Hable Construction Design Studio. This year marks Susan’s first book that she published called A Colorful Home with Chronicle Books. Susan has been a member of The Color Association of the United States for the past 6 years with the Environment group. This New York based organization focuses on color trends for home, men and women’s fashion, kids fashion, and beauty industries.
Susan has a fine art education with experience in collage, sculpture, welding, drawing, printmaking, and painting. Most recognized by her sensibility with color and form, she’s honed an aesthetic that’s timeless. Inspired by travels to Italy, Asia, and South America as well as her garden and community, Susan’s work has a global appeal with an intimate presence. 

The company has evolved over the past 16 yrs starting with the Hable Construction line of hand silk screen printed fabrics to woven fabrics for such companies as S. Harris and Momentum Group. Partnering with Garnet Hill Catalog for the past 12 years, Hable has developed collections existing of bath, bedding and decorative home products. Their first exclusive line of fabrics 4 yrs ago with Hickory Chair evolved into Hable launching a furniture collection this past spring 2015. At the core of the collection are contemporary and sculptural lines with inspiration coming from Italian and Scandinavian pre modernists.  An additional 25 pieces will be added April 2016 to the Hable for Hickory Chair collection.  As partnerships keep developing, Hable remains true to supporting products made in the US.
