This year, the ASID Council of Past Presidents decided to raise funds for an Education Scholarship for design students. With the support from the Chapter, a CEU and a day of fun was planned with a bus tour to the Cambria Showroom in Palm Desert. Measuring the fun on a scale of 1 – 10, it was totally off the chart.
The day started at the Laguna Design Center‘s Visitor Center with a breakfast reception. Then the fun began as the designers walked up the steps of the fabulous luxury coach. If they had them on, their socks rolled down, mouths dropped and screams of “WOW!”
After settling in, a “Quartz Surface” seminar was conducted on the bus by Cambria’s hostesses Celeste Lehmann and Kayla Benning. It was an informative presentation on the attributes, production, benefits and design application of quartz. When we arrived at the Cambria Showroom, we enjoyed a delicious gourmet lunch and toured the showroom with the beautiful vignettes of kitchens, bath and interior spaces utilizing quartz and also a room that showcased large slabs. We visited the new Cambria Showroom in town and were the first to walk into the boutique style showroom before it was opened to the public.
The hospitality of Cambria during the entire day was absolutely marvelous. It was a day filled with fun, laughter, friendship, and inspiring design ideas. In addition, each designer had contributed some money towards an Education Scholarship fund.
